Ray of Sunshine builds a Rescue Home for Girls in Mombasa
In January 2016, The Ray of Sunshine Foundation returned to Mombasa with an army of volunteers and built a Rescue Home for girls used in the sex trafficking industry. We called it St. Bakhita’s Girls Rescue Home. The home was built in 36 days thanks to the hard work of our volunteers. These girls can be as young as 3 years of age. This was a great success story and today the home is fully operational and is being run by the Sisters of St Joseph’s. The girls living in the home are now in a safe haven and receive counselling, educational in a loving, caring environment.
We were honoured on this project that the Irish Ambassador to Kenya, Dr. Vincent O Neill took time out of his busy schedule to travel to Mombasa to officially open the girls home.
